Atlantic Wall Monument

2002, mixed media: cast wax after clay modelled wheely bin, pigment, industrial wheels, acrylic paint, dimensions: 55 x 35 x 53 cm, Hold Your Horses, Royal College of Art & Sculpture at Kells, Kells Priory, Ireland.

Atlantic Wall Monument continues a concern with combining image-making with sculpture. The title refers to the Atlantic Wall of the 2nd World War, a series of bunkers built by the Germans along the coast line of Europe. The construction demanded an enormous amount of manpower to build it and was described as "the most senseless construction since the Tower of Babel".
